Outdoors

  • Jalama Beach Park- Lompoc

Jalama Beach is a rugged, scenic, and often windy coastal spot in Santa Barbara County, known for its wide sandy shores, dunes, and powerful surf, making it popular for experienced surfers, campers, and nature lovers seeking a remote escape with a famous burger joint. It's a secluded destination reached via a long, winding road from Highway 1, offering a true getaway from society.

9999 Jalama Road, Lompoc, CA 93436

Jalama is where Bingo goes to be in the ocean in the Santa Ynez Valley. It’s a special place that his late dog, Chilango, loved. A great spot for a Burger and some beach time, don’t let the warm weather fool you.. the waters colder than you think.

  • Figueroa Mountain- Los Olivos

Figueroa Mountain, in California's Los Padres National Forest, offers diverse hiking and winding roads up into the hills. One of the joys of this area is the open space, vast views, and seasonal wildflowers (poppies in spring).

34°44'27.8"N 120°03'44.1"W (driving road access location)

This is fun place that Kevyn and Bingo will go on hikes with Hazel, find swimming holes deep in the hills, and meet up for sunset BBQ hangs with friends. We recommend going for a sunset or sunrise drive and enjoy the views.

  • Santa Ynez River- Solvang

The Santa Ynez River, particularly in the Los Padres National Forest near Santa Barbara, offers scenic, natural, and often cold, deep-water swimming holes, with the most popular being just off of Alisal Road. These spots feature clear water (sometimes murky later in the day) and are accessible via a relatively easy trot down a dirt path.

Park in the neighborhood and follow the dirt path just before the bridge on Alisal Road.

    34°35'10.8"N 120°08'36.1"W (parking coordinates)

Perfect place for a dip. Summertime this is a hot spot amongst locals, but Kevyn and Bingo come here often with friends for some river floating and Hazel ball fetching.

  • Green Gate Loop- Los Olivos

Green Gate trailhead and is located at the east edge of what was formerly Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch. This trail- head is easy to navigate once the green gate is located, it will be the first cattle gate after the Mid land School on row left side of the road. Park just outside the gate on the dirt lot area and hop over the fence. Mid land school has kindly allowed public access to this trail head, but wants to keep all vehicles out with a locked gate.

    34°44'19.8"N 120°04'45.1"W (parking location)

This is Kevyn’s personal favorite for a hazel walk in the mid morning when it’s not too hot. Watch out for rattle snakes crossing the road during the summer months.

  • Park Loop- Los Alamos

Located in Los Alamos Park. We recommend this activity if you want to get a little blood flow and movement in locally before our festivities or fit in a little walk with a coffee from Bob’s in the morning.

Located 2-3 minute walk from The Alamo Motel:

34°44'15.5"N 120°16'36.5"W (trail entrance behind park)

Bingo and Hazel run this simple little loop often from his house in Los Alamos.

  • Refugio State Beach- SB Coast

Refugio State Beach offers excellent coastal fishing as well as trails and picnic sites. Palm trees planted near Refugio Creek give a distinctive look to the beach and camping area.

10 Refugio Beach Road, Goleta CA 93117

Refugio is a fan favorite for a lot of attendees for our wedding weekend. Surf is smaller in the summer months, but great place to enjoy a beach afternoon with some snacks.
